The Ideathon is more than a competition; it is a platform for transformative ideas that have the power to reshape industries, societies, and, ultimately, the world. This competition creates a collaborative and idea-generating environment while acting as a testing ground for the brightest brains.

    What to Expect?

    This program has four broad theme areas namely-

  • Digital technological intervention for sustainable farming. This theme focuses on cutting-edge digital technologies to improve farming methods, maximize resource utilization, and contribute to a more sustainable agricultural ecosystem.
  • High throughput crop improvement. This theme aims to push the boundaries of traditional breeding methods, ushering in a new era of rapid and efficient crop enhancement.
  • Innovative Crop Health Management solutions. Through the integration of innovative technologies and novel methodologies, participants can contribute to fostering robust crop health and fortifying global food security
  • Outreach Strategies for Climate Resilient Agriculture. This theme emphasizes the importance of community engagement in building resilient agricultural practices

Each theme represents a unique avenue for ideation, providing participants with the chance to contribute their creative skills. The participation in ideathon can be in two ways either with a demo or with an idea or solution to problems identified.Join us in this exhilarating Ideathon and let your ideas spark change and inspire the world.

    Ideathon – Focus area and problems

    This program has four broad theme areas namely-

  • Digital technological intervention for sustainable farming Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and Digital tools and technologies in Agriculture. The concept/ model for the farmers and Agriculture systems of Kerala is preferred.
  • High throughput crop improvement. Efficient algorithms for genomic data to identify desirable traits in crops. Accurate prediction models, Algorithms and tools for researchers and breeders to develop most promising crop varieties.
  • Innovative Crop Health Management solutions Technologies for early detection of pests and diseases, Intelligent and precision spraying systems, Data-driven models for predicting disease outbreaks, expansion of agroforestry, mobile app for monitoring and sharing information.
  • Outreach strategies for climate resilient agriculture Climate-smart agricultural practices in Kerala, Communication and Virtual platforms strategies, Personalized advisory services, mobile app and outreach programmes are preferred.

Guidelines for the Ideathon

Stage 1 - Abstract Submission
  • One team must comprise of maximum 5 members.
  • Draft an abstract within 300 words, encapsulating your idea. Articulate the problem statement, propose an innovative solution, highlight potential impacts, and outline key features
  • Share your abstract via email to kaucortevasymposium2024@gmail.com before the deadline(12th January 2024), ensuring your subject line includes your team ID.
  • The selected ideas will get an email confirming their participation for the final event.

The finalists are accounted to pay Rs. 500 for final round.

All the members of the ideathon team should register individually.

Stage 2 - Offline Presentation
  • The finalists will be allocated 10 minutes to present their idea (7 min presentation + 3 min discussion).
  • Meticulously develop a comprehensive presentation that delves into the technical aspects, implementation plan, potential benefits, and supporting evidence of your idea. Be concise and persuasive.
  • Maintain your impact within the designated time limit, ensuring your presentation is coherent and engaging.
  • Utilize audiovisual aids, prototypes, or visual elements to enhance the delivery of your presentation, amplifying the impact of your ideas (where applicable).

Smart Phone Quiz – AICSA 2024

What better way to combine fun and learning through smart phone that has already become our life-line! Brush up your knowledge and be competitive to win attractive prizes! We will explore the history of world and Indian agriculture along with sports trivia in this one hour session. Keep your smart phones ready!

The Quiz will consist of 30 multiple choice questions with one right answer per question. Time to answer each question is 30 seconds. Correct and faster answer will get more points than correct and slower answer. The Wrong answer will get zero points, of course! Winner will be based on cumulative points as identified by the Quizzing Software!

Oral and Poster Presentation Guidelines

Submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentation

    Themes

Abstracts of original research should contain maximum 300 words. Work published before in journals or conferences CANNOT be submitted. Abstracts of original research pertaining to the above themes with author/coauthor affiliations should be sent to E mail: kaucortevasymposium2024@gmail.com

The abstract should confirm to the guidelines below

  • Title of the paper (Center alignment, Upper case, font size 12)
  • Name(s) and address(es) of the authors (Center alignment, Upper case, font size 12)
  • Abstract must include brief statement on the research, methods employed, findings, conclusion and keywords
  • Abstract must be in Microsoft words with Times New Roman, font size 12 and line space 1.5

Submission deadline: 10th January 2024

Notification of Acceptance : 12th January 2024

All submitted abstracts undergo review process by a panel of judges. Accepted abstracts are selected for oral or poster presentation on discretion of the panel. The decision of the Panel is final and irrevocable.

Notification of acceptance

Acceptance or rejection of submitted abstracts will be sent to submitting authors by mail on or before January 10th, 2024. The presenting author must be registered for the KAU-Corteva International Plant Science Symposium. For registration, please use the online form, which is available at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1_DKno3QnfELolHTMlv1XtFyLW09sw6Ma7FXCFpyESko/edit?chromeless=1  Authors should reconfirm their participation through E-mail on or before 10th January 2024. Upon payment of the fee on or before 10th January 2024, your presentation will be confirmed.

All accepted abstracts will be compiled in the conference proceedings (Book of abstracts) available online from 18th January 2024.

Poster presentation during Corteva -KAU Plant Science Symposium 2024

The poster sessions will be held on 18th and 19 January 2024. Poster number labels will be provided on site and will be placed above your poster on the board. At least one of the authors must be present at your poster during the entire presentation session and explain their poster (in not more than 5 minutes) to the panel of judges

Guideline Poster format

Your poster must bring the printed posters in DIN A0 (841mm x 1189mm) or DIN A0 Oversize (882mm x 1247mm), upright format (Portrait). Posters must be organised into sections such as Introduction, Objectives, Materials and Methods, Results and Conclusion. The letter size should be 20mm (font size 80pts) for headings, 15mm (font size 60pts) for author affiliations and 10mm (font size 40 pts)for body text. The posters should be printed on paper.

Oral presentations during Corteva -KAU Plant Science Symposium 2024

All accepted oral presentations will be in-person presentations, limited to 5 min and the recommended number of slides are 10-15. The oral presentation sessions will be held on Friday 19 January 2024. Send your presentation as early as possible but no later than one day prior to your scheduled slot for presentation. Presentations will be accepted only as MS PowerPoint

AWARDS

The best oral and poster presentation will be rewarded with certificate of appreciation.
